DESIGN + STRATEGY that is COLLABORATIVE & CUSTOMISED
Design & Strategy
Our design sensibility is about BEAUTY + FUNCTIONALITY + SUSTAINABILITY.
We’re BIG design fans, we love the impact that good design has on people, place and nature. We favour purposeful designs that have elegant simplicity, sound environmental merit and are strong on connection to nature and place. We understand that the best design outcomes are collaborative and integrated, that’s why we focus on what we do best and collaborate with others to create a cohesive project vision that delivers creative and practical solutions efficiently.
Our place strategy work is founded on the premise that starting with strategy is a tactical way to work efficiently towards a well defined goal and outcomes with multiple co-benefits. The THRIVE Strategy is an ecological land management guide that is action orientated and is focussed on developing efficient and sustainable solutions that are practical to implement.
Our work is driven by thinking that considers environmental and social sustainability and, when possible, regenerative outcomes. We embed this thinking into our design and strategy work to create places that achieve good outcomes for the environment and the everyday lived experience.
Ethos
Whole project outcomes that are good for PEOPLE + PLACE + NATURE + CULTURE
+ PEOPLE : We put the human experience at the centre of our design thinking & strategy.
+ PLACE : We create places that are site specific and reflective of the local environment & its character.
+ NATURE : We look to nature for inspiration and solutions to create a meaningful connection to the environment.
+ CULTURE : We look to cultural influences to inform our work, from around the globe but primarily we recognise the wisdom and knowledge in caring for Country of our First Nations People.
Values
CREATIVE + EFFICIENT + CONNECTED + GOODNESS - we bring these values to everything we do.
At any given time we have a ‘love’ project on the go. Doing this work creates space to free range across areas of design and strategy that are of particular interest. This allows us to experiment, learn, connect and develop our thinking, all while living our four key values. Currently, we’re consulting on a design focussed docu-series that is deeply rooted in the value of good design, sustainability and regenerative outcomes, and indigenous connection to Country. It’s an exciting project that is in the early stages - watch this space.
Prior to this we worked on a food security project in Nepal. Seed CoLab was a collaborative project that aimed to create food gardens to provide opportunities for marginalised women in Nepal through education, skills training and income generation. The goal was to work towards creating a simple, replicable model around food security projects that can be rolled out easily to support more women and communities.
“If you love the land, it will love you back. It’s just the way it’s always been…”
The late Uncle Archie Roach.
We acknowledge the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation and their Elders, past, present and emerging, and their connection to this land on which we gather. This land provides us with a place to work, create, connect and explore. We cherish our surrounds, including the beautiful bays and waterways, the hills and the valleys, and the indigenous flora and fauna.
As we think about the past and look forward to our future together, we offer our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders people.
